About

At Keith Gramlich Piano Service, we have been caring for pianos professionally for over 10 years, and have over 40 years experience. Tuning, repairs and rebuilding are all part of the services we can offer. Give us a call with you needs, and let’s see how we can bring back that “new piano” touch, feel and sound!

A piano is like a fine motorcar. It needs periodic maintenance to perform optimally. Pianos are heavy, large and highly acoustic musical instruments. They rely heavily on their placement in the home, and the environment in which they live. Here are some tips to keep your piano in top shape:

  1. Make sure the piano is placed very close to a structural floor support. It is best to place the piano where the home’s structural beam is. Pianos can range, depending on style and size, from approximately 300 to over 700 pounds, with extra weight added for player pianos. This is not something you want to place too far out on the floor, supported only by the floor joists!
  2. Do not place your piano on an outside wall. The extremes of temperature and humidity will not work well on the piano.
  3. Your piano should be tuned every 6 months with the heating (on/off) season. If your piano is in excellent condition and is constantly tuned, you can get by with every year for a tuning.
